NMC Operator (m/f/d)


General Description of the Position:

Due to our success, we are expanding our business activities and looking for a NMC Operator, located in Griesheim, Germany. The HNS Network Management Center monitors the state of complex networks in detail, finding trends, solving network problems possibly before the customer notices it. A NMC Operator troubleshoots network incidents that were either detected during checks/monitoring or handed over by first or second level help-desk. The NMC Operator is responsible for operating, servicing and optimizing customer networks, supporting installation of hardware and software, managing and maintaining systems, monitoring network availability and security, providing support for the development of new applications, as well as rectifying and logging network failures.


Required skills and expertise:

  • Bachelor/Master degree in communications engineering or information technology or comparable education and experience
  • Knowledge of data communication and networking protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic router configurations and operations
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Basic experience with scripting and/or batch tools
  • CCNA or equivalent IT certifications are considered to be a plus
  • Programming skills are considered to be a plus
  • Knowledge of satellite (wireless) communications and/or VSAT technology are a plus
  • English and German language

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Use of linear troubleshooting techniques to detect, diagnose and solve problems in customer networks
  • Troubleshoot local or remote hardware or software issues
  • Provide technical support to customers, partners or service providers
  • Assist in the definition and implementation of maintenance work necessary to ensure smooth operation under guidance of Hub Engineers
  • Monitoring network availability, capacity and security
  • Performing routine tasks needed to ensure service continuity
  • Work with different internal and external Trouble Ticket systems to record, track and evaluate network and individual site incidents
  • Communication with external service providers or sub-contractors
  • Work in a 24/7 shift roster system
